SafeNet Announces Carrier Grade QuickSec 5.0
Leading IPsec solution to Integrate Cavium Networks OCTEON and Multi-Core Support
BALTIMORE
October 26, 2009
SafeNet, Inc, a global leader in information security, now affiliated under common management with Aladdin Knowledge Systems‚ today announced the general availability of QuickSec 5.0, an industry-leading carrier grade IPsec toolkit that offers true multi-core support, integrated with Cavium Networks OCTEON® Multi-core MIPS64® processors. QuickSec 5.0 is a complete IPsec and IKEv1/IKEv2 software toolkit that enables developers to integrate industrial-strength and standards-based security into high-bandwidth networking applications. QuickSec 5.0 is offered as a server toolkit for telecommunications and networking applications and as a client toolkit for mobile and remote networking devices.
Carriers are extremely demanding customers as a result of large established customer bases, the quality of service requirements imposed by corporate customers, experience dealing with the pain of service disruption and customer service issues, and market dynamics demanding a combination of rapid introduction of new services and careful cost management. QuickSec 5.0 has been specifically designed with the needs of cutting-edge carrier applications like Femtocell, IMS, mobile TV, and VoIP in areas like:
- Performance – highly optimized software supporting the latest hardware, including Cavium OCTEON chips and multi-core processors.
- Interoperability – exhaustively tested through industry certifications such as ICSA, TAHI, and VPNC.
- Latest standards – for example, multiple authentication support within IKE as required by the latest Femtocell specifications.
- Code quality and documentation – well-tested source code that has passed thousands of test cases before release, as well as extensive documentation including one-thousand five hundred pages of reference manuals.
QuickSec5.0 is complemented by an experienced, highly-technical support team to enable rapid time-to-market for customer problems, effectively diagnosing and resolving issues in the field.
“SafeNet’s QuickSec provides an attractive IPsec option along with IKE v1/v2 protocols for our mutual customers,” said Tasha Castañeda, Senior Strategic Alliance Manager,at Cavium Networks. “Over the last few years, OCTEON has enabled a vast array of multi-core systems and application software to achieve market leading performance and power efficiency at Tier-1 OEM vendors. We are pleased to see the increasing strength and depth of solutions from SafeNet as a Cavium PACE ecosystem partner.”
As customers move towards high-bandwidth applications utilizing multi-core solutions, they need an effective and proven method to implement security with quick time-to-market. QuickSec 5.0 allows developers with multi-core platforms to easily scale down on different cores optimized to fully utilize the available hardware—combined with high-level customer support to ensure smooth product development. Developers must also ensure that the software solution can scale on the many cores available—without doing dedicated optimizations for the multi-core processors the software may not be able to fully utilize the available hardware. QuickSec can optimize data throughput and control plane performance in a balanced and fully configurable way.
“SafeNet has consistently been ahead of the curve on groundbreaking technology, and we maintain that tradition with the release of QuickSec 5.0—now the world’s leading IPsec and IKE stack is integrated with the top high throughput networking hardware,” said Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson, Managing Director for SafeNet’s Embedded Security Solutions. “Developers who need to develop high-bandwidth applications can use QuickSec 5.0, with features like linear multi-corescaling combined with leading IPsec control plane based on the IKEv1/IKEv2 protocols, including features such as multiple authentication.”
“IPsec is being deployed in increasingly demanding environments. SafeNet has proven its commitment to interoperability through its long-time leadership role within the VPNC, and QuickSec 5.0 shows its ongoing investment to adding the advanced features the market is demanding,” said Paul Hoffman, Director and Founder of the Virtual Private Network Consortium (VPNC).
